Finally!

This picture deserves its own posting.  He could not be more excited to finally be starting his mission.  He has prepared his whole life and will be an incredible missionary.

MTC

We needed to drop Troy off at the MTC at 1:15 so after breakfast we drove to the Area and took this shot before it got too busy.  Notice the sign over his head.  It is the only sign they have now.

Troy has never been one to like to eat out.  He is a simple kid and I believe could live on Ham and Cheese Bagels.  So when we asked him where he would like to eat lunch before we dropped him off he said Wendy's.  He loves the fries there.  He got vetoed by his Dad and settled on Brick Oven.  We had a nice dinner and funny enough shared a spiritual experience there in this little booth.  We weren't the only ones eating lunch at the Brick Oven.  Several other soon to be missionaries had the same idea. Plus an added bonus was that his meal was free!

Saying our last "See you Soon" with Mom...
and Dad.

It was the greatest thing to see Mitchell (Elder Overson) as we pulled up to the drop off!  It made it a little bit easier to leave knowing that Troy has so many good friends at the MTC with him and a few more will be coming  in the upcoming weeks.

Utah

We stop to see Michael at BYU while we were in Provo.  We took him to  Breakfast before he started classes for the day.  It was good to see these two together.

We also were able to attend a session in the SLC Temple.  It was incredible, we  loved every minute of the experience.  We then ate dinner at The Roof Restaurant the view from here is incredible!

See you Soon

Troy was pretty insistent about not saying Goodbye to anyone he only wanted to say "See you Soon".  This is him telling Makenna "See you Soon"  I think this was one of the hardest things for these two.  They have been so fortunate to become so close over the last couple of years.  They sure have a special relationship.  He respects her and she respects him so much.

Farewell Sunday

Troy gave his farewell talk today in Sacrament meeting.  He did such an awesome job and the spirit sure was at the meeting.  Troy wore my Dad's orange, silk tie.  It is a dig at me.  I didn't like this tie when I was younger.  I thought it was hideous in color and my Dad would wear it just to mess with me.  If I had to give a talk or anything in church he would be sure to have it on.  Both Brennan and Troy have worn it at their farewells.  It's funny but I really don't mind it now.  It sure beats some of the things Troy has brought home from Savers to wear.

This helmet was special gift from the coopers.  It was Steve's helmet when he and Troy played football in Junior high.  Shelley had a dream one night that while Troy was on his mission he wore this helmet while out tracking on his bike.  So she decorated it with Scriptures and presented it to him today.  Troy loves this family so much.  We are blessed to have so many people care for him.

President Barker, Troy, Bishop Albrecht, and Troy's YW President, Marty Smith

Troy was set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 24, 2013 by President Barker.  Troy was asked to be obedient and to be patient while serving his mission.  I know he will do his best to do both.

Mission Pictures

We went to the temple today to get some missionary pictures of Troy.  We went to the Mesa Temple this afternoon.  It was so nice to be there.  The grounds still look nice.

Our photographer was Ashby.  She has taken our pictures for several years now and she is a really good friend too.  My kids know her well and it makes for better pictures because they are able to relax and enjoy the process.  I can't wait to see the pictures after she finishes editing them.  She took some really fun shots.
